Origin & Vision
The Calicut Innovation and Technology Initiative (CITI) was founded in 2008 with a clear mandate: to accelerate Calicut’s economic and infrastructural growth.
Born from the visionary efforts of the Malabar Chamber of Commerce, the initiative successfully laid the groundwork for the city’s tech ecosystem, playing a pivotal role in the establishment of two major cyber parks.
Building on this momentum, CITI 2.0 was launched in 2020 with a bolder, globally focused mandate.
Today, CITI 2.0 is driven by a strategic partnership of nine foundational stakeholders: the Malabar Chamber of Commerce, NIT Calicut, IIM Calicut, UL Cyber Park, Government Cyber Park, KSITIL, CAFIT, CMA, and CREDAI.
Operating as a registered society, this consortium unites academia, government, infrastructure developers, and industry leaders into a single, focused engine for regional growth.
The vision driving CITI 2.0 is clear: to establish Calicut as a globally connected hub where industry, technology, and exceptional talent converge.
By fostering an innovation-driven ecosystem, CITI 2.0 is positioning Calicut as the defining model for how Tier 2 cities in emerging India can scale, compete, and build for the world.
Backed by measurable ambitions, CITI 2.0 operates with a highly targeted roadmap. Its core objectives include the generation of 10,000 jobs in the short term and 100,000 jobs within five years, supported by the development of 1 million square feet of premium IT space.
